Married 26 Jul 1852 Hawick, Scotland Article - William & Jane came to Australia as Bounty Immigrants (where land holders in the colony paid the fare and they worked for a period of time before becoming independant settlers). According to the shipping records both could read and write. On arrival they travelled to Bombala where they worked for Mr Duigood on his property at Mila. They later worked for Mr John Nicholson at Little Plain. They worked there for many years before moving into the township of Bombala where they resided in Young Street. William paid 27 pounds 10 shillings for his parents and siblings to come to Australia and 5 pounds for his brother Adam & wife Janet.
Jane was the Matron of Bombala Hospital for 8 years and William was a wards man at the same time
